On September 3, 2017 at 4:35 a.m., the Fitchburg Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 3300 block of Leopold Way. According to witnesses, several people and at least one vehicle fled the area after the shots were fired.
Upon arrival, officers located three shell casings at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates there had been a physical altercation between multiple individuals prior to the shots being fired. There have been no reports of injuries, nor any property being damaged.
The incident remains under investigation and the police department is continuing to work with the community to identify any people involved.
