The City of Fitchburg is currently progressing through the contract change order approval process to resurface key roadways, including Fitchrona Road, Nesbitt Road, and Seminole Highway. This resurfacing project aims to enhance ride ability and provide a higher quality, long-lasting surface for these roads.
Work is scheduled to begin on October 7, with completion anticipated by mid-October. Please be aware that lane closures will occur, and traffic will be slowed significantly throughout the duration of the project. We encourage residents and commuters to plan ahead and consider alternate routes during this time.
The project includes applying new asphalt to areas where the roads have been ground down. While another maintenance option was initially planned for these roadways, a change order became necessary after work commenced to proceed with an alternate option that will lead to a better outcome for the roadway surface and experience for those using these roadways. The City Council is now reviewing the updated contract. We recognize any inconvenience this delay in completing this project has caused and appreciate your patience as we work to complete this essential maintenance and improve our local infrastructure.
