At approximately 1:44pm Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Dane County Public Safety Communications (911) notified the Fitchburg Fire Department of a structure fire on 3329 Leopold Way in the City of Fitchburg.
The first arriving fire personnel did not see visible smoke and flames. After assessing the property, personnel were able to locate a contained fire in the entrance to a second-floor apartment. The building did have a sprinkler system that contained the fire in the affected apartment.
The only occupant in the affected apartment was a dog. The dog is safe and has been reunited with their owner. Two units out of the 26-unit apartment were affected by either smoke or water damage. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist with the residents who were displaced in the apartment where the fire occurred. No injuries were reported.
Assistance was received from Fitchburg Police Department, FitchRona EMS, Madison Fire Department, and Verona Fire Department.
The origin and cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Fitchburg Fire Investigators.
