Beginning Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Dane County Parks staff will be removing dead and dying oaks along the Capital City Trail to reduce potential hazards with park users. Three main areas have been identified most affected by oak decline for management:
- Phase 1. Lake Farm Road to Larsen Road: Jan 30 - Feb 1, 2024 (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
- Phase 2. Syene Road to Gunflint Trail: Feb 6 - 8, 2024 (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
- Phase 3. Seminole Hwy to Badger State Trail Roundabout: *Pending* Feb 13-15, 2024 (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
Detours will be provided to reroute trail users in advance of operations to minimize user conflict.
