A 35-year-old DeForest man made his initial appearance in Dane County Circuit Court today on charges related to a December 23rd shooting that occurred in the parking lot of a Fitchburg bar. Dedonta Davis was charged with 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Two search warrants related to the investigation were conducted last Friday with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies, and Davis was taken into custody by the Fitchburg Police Department.
Investigators determined a bullet fired during the incident struck a man, causing a minor injury.
The investigation remains open and under investigation. No additional information is available for release at this time.

Around 1:09 a.m. this morning, officers from the Fitchburg Police Department responded to the parking lot of Monkeyshines Bar & Grill, 6209 McKee Road, for a report of a person shot. The apparent victim left the scene before officers arrived.
Officers learned a fight broke out in the parking lot, and at least one gunshot was fired. Evidence collected at the scene confirmed at least one shot was fired. One round appears to have struck the building.
No one has come forward to report they were struck by the gunfire and no other injuries have been reported. Staff at the bar immediately locked the doors to keep the many patrons inside safe.
Personnel from the Madison Police Department, Verona Police Department, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting scene to assist with scene security and the investigation. The investigation remains open and active.
