Details:
The Fitchburg Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries on County Highway MM near the intersection with Schneider Dr. at approximately 7:37 a.m. Officers arrived to find two vehicles with severe and disabling damage in the roadway. The Fitchburg Fire Department and Fitchrona EMS also responded to assist with extrication and medical treatment for the injured. The occupants of both vehicles were transported to the hospital. Some of the injuries were significant and potentially life threatening.
A crash reconstruction team from the Dane County Sheriff's Office responded to assist with the investigation. A preliminary investigation revealed the crash was a head on collision. The investigation is ongoing to determine causal factors. County Highway MM between Schneider Dr. and Schuster Rd. was closed from approximately 7:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
