Details:
On September 21st, 2023, around 8:40 pm, Officers with the Fitchburg Police Department responded to a report of an accident on S Seminole Hwy near Dawley Drive. Officers located a vehicle that had crashed into an electrical pole on the side of S Seminole Hwy. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling south on S Seminole Hwy and left the road because the windows became foggy. The 74 year old driver was the only occupant and did not report any injuries.
MG&E crews were called to the scene because the electrical pole was damaged. S Seminole Highway is currently closed from Dawley Dr. to McKee Rd. while crews are working to fix the pole. Crews estimate the road should be fully open by 1 am on 9/22/23. The Fitchburg Police Department requests that motorists find an alternate route during this time.
Update:
As of 5:15 a.m. on September 22, 2023, all lanes of S. Seminole Highway are open. The Fitchburg Police Department and MG&E appreciate overnight motorist who avoided the area.
