Incident Details:
Around 4:40 this morning, officers from the Fitchburg Police Department responded to the 2500 block of CTH MM (between Irish Lane and Haight Farm Road) for a single vehicle crash. Responding officers and rescue personnel found the driver had been ejected from the vehicle after it struck a utility pole and rolled over. The 25-year-old-man was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants of the vehicle.
The preliminary investigation indicates speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Fitchburg Police Department and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office. Deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
CTH MM was closed due to the crash investigation between Haight Farm Road and Irish Lane and was reopened around 8:20 a.m.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine when the driver’s name will be released publicly.
