On February 5, 2026, at approximately 11:43 a.m., members of the Fitchburg Police Department responded to the 1600 block of the West Beltline Highway for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. Three people inside the building were injured as a result of the crash, two of whom sustained serious injuries. Emergency medical care was provided to the injured persons who were all transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. There is no indication this was an intentional act. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation. The Fitchburg Fire Department, Madison Fire Department, Fitchrona EMS and Brooklyn EMS also assisted with this event.
