Beginning next week, tree removal will take place along the west and north boundaries of the Fitchburg DNR campus. This work is being completed by American Transmission Company (ATC) as part of their easement maintenance.
We know how important mature oaks and other trees are. The DNR staff worked closely with ATC to significantly reduce the number of trees removed along Fish Hatchery Road from 20 to just 8. In addition, 4 dead or hazardous trees located outside the easement will be removed. ATC works to minimize community and environmental impact with its projects as much as possible, while also ensuring communities have safe and reliable electrical power.
Along the northern boundary, approximately 58 spruce trees will be removed to maintain safety and clearance for electrical infrastructure.
Work begins on Monday, July 28, with an expected completion date by August 31.
