On April 26, 2025, Fitchburg Officers received several calls to a business in the 6300 block of McKee Rd, for a subject that was creating a disturbance. Prior to arrival, Officers were informed the subject had returned to his vehicle in the parking lot. Witnesses indicated when the suspect returned to his vehicle, he had armed himself with a firearm and a knife.
With assistance from the Dane County Sheriff Office’s K-9 unit, Fitchburg Officers were able to safely detain the subject. When the suspect was arrested, several knives and an air rifle were located within his belongings. Once at the Dane County Jail, the suspect battered a Dane County Deputy. This resulted in a minor injury to the Deputy.
Joseph H. Bentalha, 34 years old, of Madison, was arrested and booked into the Dane County Jail for Disorderly Conduct, Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer, and Threats to a Law Enforcement Officer.
