The Fitchburg Police & Fire Commission (PFC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Sarver as the next Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director for the City of Fitchburg effective May 30, 2025.

The recruitment process began in January 2025 and included a comprehensive and competitive selection process. Candidates participated in a professional panel interview, meet-and-greets with the Mayor and City Administrator, a tour of the city, a community reception, engagement with the Fire Department, and a final interview with the Police & Fire Commission.

“We were fortunate to have an impressive pool of highly qualified candidates,” said PFC President, Tom O’Day. “The three finalists all demonstrated exceptional leadership and experience, making this a very competitive process.”

After careful consideration, the Commission selected Chief Sarver for his outstanding qualifications, leadership experience, and clear vision for the future of fire and emergency services in Fitchburg. Chief Sarver brings over 27 years of experience in fire service, emergency management and community leadership.  Chief Sarver currently serves as District Chief for the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority in Centennial, Colorado.

“The Commission looks forward to working with Chief Sarver as he leads the Fitchburg Fire Department into its next chapter,” said O’Day. “We are confident he will continue the department’s proud tradition of dependable, professional, and community-focused service.”
