STATEMENT FROM THE CITY OF FITCHBURG
FITCHBURG, Wis. – Fitchburg Mayor Julia Arata-Fratta issued the following statement today:
Yesterday, Fitchburg voters expressed their views on the City’s referendum, which would have provided an increase in the levy limit cap to fund additional public safety staffing, expand our transit and paratransit system, and meet growing demands for City services.
In light of the vote, the Common Council and I will thoughtfully reexamine our options to address Fitchburg’s staffing, transit, and safety needs. We’ll explore alternative funding avenues to sustain the quality services our community relies on. While some initiatives may take longer to achieve, we are committed to finding practical solutions that reflect both community needs and priorities.
Thank you for engaging in this process and making your voice heard. The Common Council will discuss the next steps as we work to ensure Fitchburg remains a safe, connected, and vibrant place for everyone.
