Around 11:20 a.m., Fitchburg officers responded to the 2600 block of Smithfield Drive for reports of gunfire. Responding officers located multiple shell casings in a parking lot behind a multi-family building. No injuries have been reported from this incident.

This incident occurred in a neighborhood full of single-family homes, duplexes, and one of Fitchburg’s largest apartment complexes. Gunfire of any type poses a significant risk to our community and should not be tolerated by anyone. We appreciate the community’s support in preventing gun violence and solving gun crimes.
