Fitchburg Fire responds to Water Rescue
At approximately 9:31am Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Dane County Public Safety Communications (911) notified the Fitchburg Fire Department of a vehicle in a retention pond at McKee Farms Park.
The first arriving fire personnel confirmed a car half submerged with a person standing on top of the vehicle.
Fire sent a firefighter into the water to rescue the person and the man made it safely to shore. Person was evaluated by FitchRona EMS and they were not transported.
Fire stayed on scene to assist the tow service in getting the vehicle out of the water.
Fitchburg Fire is trained at the surface water level where we are able to render aid immediately without additional resources.
Assistance was received from Fitchburg Police Department, and FitchRona EMS.
