In February 2024, the City of Fitchburg released a report identifying a need to increase staffing, invest in a new public safety building and increase funding for transit services to meet the growing service needs of the growing community.
As the City of Fitchburg community has grown, the demand for City services – including public safety and other core municipal services like infrastructure development and maintenance – has also increased while funding for those services has not kept pace. City staffing has also not kept pace with the City’s expanding responsibilities.
The report is included in the links below, along with additional resources.
Community Survey to Help City Prioritize Investments
In the coming weeks, residents in the City of Fitchburg will receive a survey designed to help municipal leaders determine service priorities and the best path forward for funding service needs. If you have questions or feedback, please contact Chad Brecklin at Chad.Brecklin@fitchburgwi.gov.
