At approximately 1:54pm Monday, February 19, 2024, Dane County Public Safety Communications (911) notified the Fitchburg Fire Department of a structure fire at 1910 Greenway Cross in the City of Fitchburg.
The first arriving fire personnel reported alarms sounding and confirmed visible smoke on the second floor. The fire was located on a second-floor apartment and was contained to that apartment. The building fire alarms did activate and sound but there were no sprinklers in the building.
Fire was extinguished quickly by first arriving companies. The apartment residents were displaced due to fire and water damage in the apartment. No injuries were reported.
Assistance was received from Fitchburg Police Department, FitchRona EMS, Madison Fire Department, and Verona Fire Department.
The origin and cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Fitchburg Fire Investigators.
