Our highway maintenance crew has been working extensively to remove snow and ice throughout this recent challenging weather. Due to the cold temperatures, salting the road is ineffective and therefore our crew has been applying sand to roadways. In addition, grading equipment has been utilized to scrape off some of the hard packed snow and ice.
Our crew will continue its efforts, however the icy conditions on roads will persist until temperatures allow for salt to be effective. Expect slick spots. Stay alert and drive safely. Give yourself additional time to get to your destination so you do not need to rush.
