Details:
On January 9, 2024, at 01:35 p.m., two Fitchburg Officers were injured during an accident. The initial investigation revealed that an officer and his partner were traveling south on Commerce Park Dr. near Cottonwood Dr. in the City of Fitchburg. A vehicle traveling north on Commerce Park Dr. lost control and hit the police vehicle head on. The officer attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle by driving towards the curb. Both Officers were transport to the hospital with minor injuries and have since been discharged. The driver that struck the police vehicle had minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital. Weather was a factor in the crash. The Dane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
