Summary: Around 8:40 p.m., Tuesday night, Fitchburg officers responded to a wooded area south of the Jenni & Kyle Preserve (925 Post Road, Madison) for a report of a woman screaming. Responding officers located a woman further south of the Preserve, just off the Capital City Trail.
The woman told officers she had been staying in a tent there and was yelling at someone on the phone. She also told officers that a man living with her in the tent had run from the area when police arrived because he had warrants for his arrest. The woman went on to report an incident that occurred in another jurisdiction.
Fitchburg officers requested the assistance of a drone unit from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. A short time later, the Deputy piloting the drone was able to locate a person lying down in the woods.
Jee Z. Vang, 33, was taken into custody and booked into the Dane County Jail on felony charges, including substantial battery, from two recent incidents in Fitchburg, as well as an active warrant from the Dane County Sheriff's Office.
