On March 12, 2018, at approximately 5:43 pm, Fitchburg Police were dispatched to 5154 Anton Drive for a report of a shooting. Arriving officers located a 24 year-old male with a gunshot wound. The male was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced deceased. The preliminary investigation indicates there was a disturbance at 5154 Anton Drive involving several males, including the victim. During this disturbance, at least one shot was fired, striking the male. The other subjects involved fled on foot and have not been located. No information is available regarding the subjects that fled and no one is in custody. It does not appear at this time that this was a random act of violence.
The Fitchburg Police Department is conducting the investigation into this homicide. The Dane County Medical Examiner will be conducting a forensic autopsy on the deceased male. Assistance at the scene was provided by Fitchburg Fire, Fitch-Rona EMS, and Madison Police.
